CAREER DAY 2009

Dear Mr. Trimmins,

On behalf of the students, faculty, and administration of Miller Elementary School, I would like to thank you for your participation in Career Day 2009.  We appreciate your willingness to volunteer your time to share your career expertise with our students.

As educators, we believe the members of our community serve as an important resource in the overall development of our youth.  I know that through our continued partnership we can make a difference in the lives of children.  Together, we can ensure their success in the 21st century.

Please know that Career Day 2009 was a great success, thanks to you!

With sincere gratitude,

During the past week I was the guest artist at Armstrong Atlantic State University (Savannah, GA) and University of West Georgia (Carrollton, GA). What a blast it was to perform with two groups of talented young musicians.  I also performed with the Savannah Jazz Orchestra (SJO) in a special tribute concert celebrating Duke Ellington's 110th birthday.

March 23, 2009

You may or may not know I recently retired from the United States Air Force after 23 years.  In fact, March 1, 2009 was my official retirement day.  At first I had many reservations and regrets about deciding to retire.  Professionally, I was in a very good position to be promoted, but there comes a time when it’s time to call it quits…and that’s what I did.  Well, now that I am out, I realize it was the best thing I could have done.

Serving my country in the capacity in which I did (as a musician) was both a privilege and honor.  I had a great tour, made a lot of friends, and played some really important gigs.  I love the Air Force and respect and admire everyone who wears a military uniform.  Thank all of you for your service, sacrifice, and protecting our country!
